"When Worlds Collide: Integrating
Financial and Cultural Due Diligence in Mergers and Alliances"
Research shows most mergers and alliances
fail in their original intended purpose due to cultural
conflicts or "culture clash." Thus, it's extremely important
for leaders to be able to identify cultural issues up
front as part of the legal and financial due diligence
process; to know how to identify areas of misalignment
and predict adverse consequences; and how to integrate
financial, legal and cultural due diligence into one
holistic package. This presentation is based on work
Chenoweth did in conjunction with another consulting
firm, Vector Group, Inc., to conduct a culture audit
preceding the Hewlett-Packard / Compaq merger in 2001/2002.
The Importance of Strategic Planning
Overall, organizations that have a strategic
plan--providing focus, alignment and follow-through--will
be more successful than organizations without a strategic
plan. This course focuses on the key elements of a strategic
plan, and shows participants how to find and defend
their own strategic niche in the marketplace.
Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain
Excellence A study of over 150
procurement improvement initiatives indicates that significant
savings are possible:
- "Shining the spotlight" on a given product category
can generate 3%-5% savings of annual purchases.
- Challenging specifications and modifying product
and package designs using a cross-functional approach
can generate savings of 7%-15% of annual purchases.
- Completely rethinking the way business is done with
suppliers using a cross-functional approach, partnering
with strategic suppliers, can generate savings of
30%-50% of annual purchases.
This course highlights the importance of supply chain
excellence AND shows participants how to do it.
